Hansoh Pharma, Roche Join to Accelerate Global Novel ADC Development

This is the second collaboration between the two companies in the ADC field.

Editor’s Take: Leveraging the deep expertise of both Hansoh and Roche will benefit ADC advancement from early development through commercialization.

Hansoh Pharma and Roche entered a strategic collaboration and license agreement to accelerate development of novel antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) programs.

The pact is the second between the two companies within the ADC field. They say their “solid and productive” relationship, and deep combined expertise, will benefit patients worldwide.

Roche to Deliver Big Payday

Hansoh receives $400 million up front, plus a planned first anniversary payment of $110 million. Additionally, under the terms of the deal, Hansoh will be eligible for more than $15 billion in milestone payments.

The collaboration spans what Hansoh and Roche term a “broad portfolio” of ADC programs. Among these are two preclinical Hansoh ADC programs, plus multiple ADC programs based on Roche-proposed targets. The latter of those, in turn, are powered by Hansoh’s proprietary ADC technology platform.

What Hansoh Gets in Deal

Hansoh will lead early development, up to completion of global Phase Ia clinical trials. Following that, Roche takes over responsibility for further worldwide development of the programs. (This excludes the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Hansoh retains rights to development, registration, and commercialization in these regions.)

Also, Hansoh may select up to two programs and contribute to their development outside the aforementioned countries and territories. In return, the company would be eligible to receive incremental upside from commercialization in the United States.

ADC Advancement Top of Mind

“We are delighted to further strengthen our collaboration with Roche,” Hansoh Pharma Executive Director of the Board Eliza Sun said. “This new agreement reflects our shared commitment to advancing ADC innovation. [It] underscores our strategy of leveraging our deep expertise to accelerate the development of transformative therapies for cancer patients globally.”

“Expanding our strategic collaboration with Hansoh marks an important step,” Roche Head of Corporate Business Development Boris Zaïtra said. “Exploring next-generation ADCs is one of the most compelling frontiers in oncology today. [It offers] the opportunity to address critical unmet needs and accelerate potential therapies for patients worldwide.”
